Currently, there are several third-party organizations in Taiwan that can conduct carbon emissions verification. These include DNV GL Business Assurance Co., Ltd.(DNV), The British Standards Institution(BSI), Bureau Veritas(BV), SGS Taiwan Limited(SGS), TUV RHEINLAND TAIWAN LTD.(TUV), Metal Industries Research & Development Centre, and Taiwan Testing and Certification Center.
According to the latest 2018 ISO 14064 standard, Category 1 is considered ‘mandatory’ for inclusion in a carbon inventory, while the rest can be identified as significant indirect emission categories through a materiality assessment process. The most comprehensive carbon inventory covers Categories 1 to 6. In most cases, companies would at least cover Categories 1 and 2 in their carbon inventory scope. Since the scope of a carbon inventory can vary from one company to another, consulting a carbon inventory consultant is the quickest way to determine the scope of a company’s carbon inventory.
